Course_Introduction
Automobile Engineering  deals with the designing, developing, manufacturing, testing, repairing and servicing automobiles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters etc & the related Sub- Engineering systems. Automobile Engineering or Automotive Engineering or Vehicle Engineering is one of the most challenging careers in the field of engineering with a wide scope. It  has gained recognition and importance ever since motor vehicles capable for transporting passengers has been in vogue. The field of activity of a qualified engineer in automobile engineering contains development (construction, calculation and testing), priming of work, fabrication and observation of the functionality of vehicles for street and rails. An automobile engineer's main duty is to test vehicles and/or components from concept stage through to production stage. The vehicle after being launched in the market also needs improvement. Then it comes to the duty of the automobile engineer to improve the vehicle in response to customers feedback.
Job_opprtunity
Automobile engineers can specialize in the areas such as aerodynamics, alternative fuels, chassis, electronics, emissions, ergonomics, manufacturing, materials, motorsport, power train, rapid prototyping, vehicle and pedestrian safety or supply chain management etc.  Automotive engineers work in three main areas:

1. Product engineering or design engineering - designing and testing a part, ensuring it meets all its requirements and performs as required;
2. Development engineering - engineering the attributes of the automobile;
3. Manufacturing engineering - determining how to make it.   They develop improved or new designs for automotive structural members, engines, transmissions, and associated automotive equipment or modifies existing equipment on production vehicles, and directs building, modification, and testing of vehicle, using computerized work aids: They also conducts experiments and tests on existing designs and equipment to obtain data on function of and performance of equipment.
Further Studies
1. M.Tech.-Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing.                                               2. M.Tech.-Design of Process Machines                                        3. M.Tech.-Production Engineering
4. M.Tech.-Product Design & Development
Target_Industry
Automobile Engineers are employed in Automobile Manufacturing, Design and Servicing Units in public and private sector. Apart from the production manufacturing unit an Automobile Engineer have chances in production plants, service stations, state road transport corporations, private transport companies, insurance companies, motor vehicle departments etc.                                       Self-employment is also possible in setting up automobile garages or maintenance workshop.
