Computer engineering is a discipline of engineering that is quickly growing due to rapid advances in the technology industry. It provides the opportunity to work in the continually changing information technology sector. Computer Engineering also called computer System engineering, involves many aspects of computer design, the creation of individual components for computer equipment, networking design, and integrating software options with the hardware that will drive the applicationsComputer engineering students study the design of digital hardware and software systems.They may look forward to a challenging and respectable career in software development, hardware design, systems analysis, computer science, or database administration.
Computer Engineers can work as a Software/ Hardware Engineer, which are the two main sectors in the computer industry. They are involved in almost every stage of automation be it hardware software, networking. The computer engineers now are extensively in demand as virtually every sector is either adopting or further improvising the automation for higher productivity.The main area for s/w engineers is System study, analysis, design and programming. They can work as programmers, web developers and E- commerce specialists etc.. Computer Engineers are employed in the industries that build or use computer-based systems, such as telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, etc.    There are many  national and multi-national computer manufacturing companies; computer hardware system design and development companies, computer networking companies, software development companies as well as hardware assembling and maintenance companies data processing departments of modern industries where opportunities lies for the computer engineers. Some of other areas where computers and computer-aided systems are used, are aeronautics and space science, the petroleum industry, chemical plants and power plants and management consultancy organizations.
